C.C.F.C. vs F.B.N.
After two defeats, C.C.F.C. looked to improve their standings with a game against the experienced men of F.B.N.. Sadly the team in white were missing the services of the speedy Hasrul up front which meant that the team were lacking pace up front. However they were able to add some solidarity at the back with another Ramblers Division One player, Kenny, coming in to make his debut for C.C.F.C.. This gave the management some welcome relief as Koon and Kay hadn't recovered from their injuries. It was going to be interesting to see if having all three Ramblers players on the pitch at the same time would change the team's results - especially when there was a serious limitation with the number of substitutions as the squad turnout wasn't high.
C.C.F.C. started off the game reasonably well as they were able to battle in midfield and looked to test the F.B.N. defence from various angles. The two Hongs hustled and harried whilst the rest of the team sat back to conserve energy and provide some solidarity after the previous week's four goal defeat. We were able to get some half shots away before F.B.N. launched a long ball forward... at which point our goalkeeper Khairil felled the striker/striker fell over the goalkeeper Khairil as both of them rushed towards the ball. The referee pointed to the spot and we trudged back to the halfway line with a familiar feeling after going a goal behind.
A further injury to another centre back, Chee Keong, saw Bill shifted to the inside with Timothy replacing him at right back and the teenager had a good game. The coach was beginning to wonder if his centre backs were cursed! However he got on with the job at hand with Samson and Fajar as they attempted to wrestle back control of the game. It wasn't a half which either team dominated but F.B.N. looked to launch longer balls over the top whilst C.C.F.C. tried to play their way through a rugged F.B.N. backline. The team in white were able to hit several shots on goal but they were either blocked, pushed wide or inaccurate. The team in red were unable to do break through the Timothy - Bill - Kenny - Foo backline although Khairil was called onto make one good save at his near post.
Then disaster struck with a headed goal from the corner. A great run by the F.B.N. striker towards the near post left his marker trailing and he was able to nod it past the goalkeeper at the near post to leave the white team trailing by two goals at half time. A tactical switch saw Fajar come inside as striker whilst Hong went on the right wing but this failed to yield us any positive results in the second half.
C.C.F.C. managed to win a number of free kicks around the edge of the box but failed to work the goalkeeper with any of their efforts, whilst they also had a penalty claim turned down when Samson backheeled a lovely reverse ball to Derek. As the match wore on, desperation cloaked the team in white as players tried to dribble their way through but it was too little avail. To add insult to injury, F.B.N. increased their goal difference as they added another two goals to their first half total!
C.C.F.C. didn't deserve to lose by four goals but it seemed that they were being punished with every defensive mistake they made/injury that they had. Without the services of a quick, clinical striker, C.C.F.C. also seem destined to remain goalless. The management hope for an improved performance next week (with hopefully a Dutch addition) but against the tournament organising team, Anak Malaysia, and a treacherous USM pitch, it will be a difficult game 4 for the only team who find themselves pointless in the league.

C.C.F.C. 0 vs 4 F.B.N.
Management (& photographer's) Man of the Match: Bill had a lot of work to do at the back, first as right back before continuing his rugged determination in the middle of the defence. His spirit to gain something from the match continued in the 2nd half as he continually ran forward from his position in order to help outnumber F.B.N. in midfield.
